Prayer to Great Martyr Catherine

Nov. 24 (Nov 25 in Greek Cal)

O holy Great-Martyr Catherine, chosen vessel of purity, pillar of Orthodoxy, trusted intercessor on our behalf, who hast thyself revealed to us just cause for entreating thee, thou Saint, resting on a holy Mount!

We beseech thee: bending down from above, hearken unto the voice of our supplication; look upon the misfortunes of thy servants; enlighten the darkness of our minds; dispose our thoughts towards the higher things, and not those of earth.

Aid us by thy prayers to overcome the wants of the flesh, the attachments of the world and the wiles of evil spirits, which war bitterly against us: so that, by thine intercessions, we may during the days of our life be free of their hostile onslaught, and after our departure, from their tortures in the air.

O, most wise virgin! Grant us all our petitions which are unto profit: for thou canst ask much of thy beloved Bridegroom, Christ our God.

We know that the prayer of the righteous availeth much, aided by the loving kindness of a Merciful God: to Whom be glory, honor and thanksgiving, always, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.

Amen.
