Friday, May 22/June 4 - Martyr Basiliscus

We at St Nicholas are sponsoring this mission, and are so pleased at their progress. They are a small group, but are doing things the right way, by consistently and constantly praying on Saturday and Sunday, and even most Wednesdays, and taking the time to come up several times to our church for training in the typicon and singing. Everyone in our church has been asked to sing the tropar to St John every day, and beg his intercession for the mission, and his prayers are very powerful.

Just recently, we have found out that they have a facility to worship in. Previously, they have been meeting in each other's homes.  We have told them that we would serve monthly vigils and liturgies on Friday and Saturday when they obtained a semi permanent location, which can be DEDICATED to prayer. It appears that we may be able to serve the liturgy to St John (Saturday, July 3, ns) in their new location.

Here is a portion of the latter we received today:

Thanks to Nektarios' efforts, we have a place to worship!  I will go sign the lease on Monday.  We will rent an office space in an office building on North Lamar.  It is a fairly central location and fairly easy to get to.  The office is ~187 sq.ft. with access to  bathrooms, a conference room, and a snack room.    If, God willing, in the future we need more space, we can move to a suite of rooms in the same building, so we can be somewhat permanent for awhile.

Next week I will try to get an ad in the paper with our address, etc.  We will also explore other ways to make our presence known.  We may be able
to celebrate St. John's feast here after all!  I guess we will be working on learning to do the Divine Liturgy to be ready.  This is so exciting!
Thanks for all your help and support!

In Christ, Mary
