Gleanings from Orthodox Christian Authors and the Holy Fathers

ezekiel3_14

'The hand of the Lord was with me, strengthening me (Ez.3:14). For the Hand of the Lord is in Holy Writ sometimes also called the Only-Begotten Son because 'all things were made by Him' (Jn. 1:3). And the Almighty Father speaks of His ascension through Moses, saying: 'I will lift up My Hand to Heaven' (Deut. 32:40). This Hand which strengthens the hearts of His elect, said to the disciples, 'Without Me ye can do nothing; (Jn. 15:5). Therefore in everything which we think, in everything which we do, we must always pray that we may think with Him breathing upon us, and act with the help of Him Who lives and reigns with the Father in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ages of ages. Amen. The Homilies of St. Gregory the Great on the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel.
